Grand Champion Pugmate Captain Cuddles ~ Cuddles

Date of Birth ~ 7/5/93
Sire: Gilgai Maistro Man ~ Dam: Kerrjo Allie

Cuddles has been a very special Pug in our household. He was from our first registered litter with the TCA under the prefix of “Pugmate Kennels”. Cuddles notched up many awards during his career in the show ring, from All Breeds and Speciality Shows.
He gained his Australian Champion & Grand Champion titles at a time where there were many quality Pugs competing in the show ring. The title of Grand Champion requires the dog to win his Championship ten times over, by gaining 1000 points in the conformation show ring, a feat many don’t manage to accomplish.
He is the sire of champion stock and appears on most of our current day pedigrees. Although a senior member of our family now (at the age of 13) & enjoying his retirement, he is still boss over the younger dogs in the kennel. A true gentleman who has done us proud and who will always hold a special place in our kennel & in our hearts.
Cuddles passed over to the Rainbow bridge peacefully in January 2008. Sleep peacefully my “Mr Ch”, our first champion and Grand Champion Pug. Always remembered never forgotten, the mark you have left with us will live on in our hearts and our Pugs forever.

He has had many Royal show wins including Best State Bred in Show at Hobart Royal. He also won at the prestigious Spring Fair in Sydney in 1997, winning Runner up Best Exhibit in Group (from an entry of 350 exhibits).
Exclusively shown by Rae Lindsey, he and Rae had a special bond together in the ring. Although he was only used at stud once, this litter produced an Australian Champion Lynjenna Krystalee (owned by Lynjenna Kennels, in Victoria).
Unfortunately, we were forced to make the excruciatingly difficult decision to give Barnie eternal peace at the young age of 6.
Farewell “Barnie Bean”, a Pug that will always have a special place in our hearts here at Pugmate Kennels. Always remembered but never forgotten.
