Welcome to Pugmate Kennels.

We are situated in the country town of Bracknell, in the Central North of Tasmania. We are a selective showing and breeding kennel who aim to breed litters occasionally, with temperament, health and soundness our goals, whilst always striving for correct and appealing breed type based on Australian and English bloodlines.

Our involvement with Pugs has been life long. My Parents purchased a Pug puppy 35 years ago as a family pet, advancing into breeding these wonderful little dogs, having their first litter in 1972. Their involvement and love for the breed developed into a rewarding hobby that has become a part of my life as well. My parents used to breed under the “ANNRAE” prefix and were members of the then Kennel Control of Tasmania, becoming one of the first registered breeders of Pugs in the state.

In 1989 I purchased a pug puppy for myself, to show and eventually build up my own bloodlines to carry into the future. Since 1989, Pugmate Kennels has been a registered breeder of Pugs in Tasmania as a member of the Tasmanian Canine Association. I am also a member of the Victorian Pug Club and the Pekingese Club of Victoria. I have shown extensively throughout Australia, achieving many wins under breed specialists and all breeds judges. I have bred or obtained many Australian Champions Pugs and one Grand Champion Pug title.

Pekingese were added to the kennel in 2000 when I started to show a Pekingese for Vickie Dwyer of Woonan Pekingese in Victoria. Since then, Vickie has been an invaluable help to us in establishing our foundation in the breed. In 2005 we were delighted to welcome our first litter of Pekingese which will be the basis of our bloodlines for the future. We are also a member of the Pekingese Club of Victoria.

A special thanks must also go to Rae Lindsey her commitment in helping me show the Pugs and Pekingese, and her lasting friendship over the years.
